Summer High School Painting Class: Paint like the Masters

Join us for a six-week immersive journey into the techniques of the High Renaissance artists. Over the course of three weeks in June, students will learn the fundamentals of oil painting, with a special focus on alla prima—a direct painting method favored for its spontaneity and rich visual impact. Through guided exercises and historical context, we’ll explore how masters like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael approached composition, form, and light.

In July, students will apply these foundational skills to independent projects, developing original works that reflect the influence of Renaissance techniques. This second phase of the course encourages personal expression while reinforcing classical methods, offering a unique opportunity to bridge historical tradition with contemporary creativity.

This course is suitable for both beginners and intermediate students with an interest in classical painting techniques.

• Registration is Required (Space is Limited)
• June (Three Weeks) - BEGINNER FRIENDLY Intro to Oil Painting.
• July (Three Weeks)- MORE INTERMEDIATE Independent oil paintings using the skills learned in previous weeks.
• Students must Bring Their Own Supplies (A list will be sent out once you are registered)
